What is
flake resin?

Flake resin, also known as glitter resin or flake resin, is a decorative floor covering that combines technical performance with contemporary design. Composed of multicolored flakes measuring 3 to 5 mm incorporated into an epoxy resin base, it creates a uniform, attractive, and extremely wear-resistant floor.

The system consists of colored vinyl flakes sprinkled onto a layer of epoxy resin, then covered with a transparent aliphatic finishing resin. This structure guarantees excellent adhesion, optimal mechanical resistance, and exceptional durability. The flake resin thus forms a continuous, uniform surface with a unique and customizable finish.

STEPS

How do flakes work?

Preparation of the substrate

We carefully prepare your existing floor by mechanical diamond grinding and thorough vacuuming. An epoxy resin undercoat is then applied to ensure optimal adhesion and correct any imperfections in the substrate.

Applying the glitter

The epoxy resin is spread evenly over the entire surface, then the colored flakes are sprinkled liberally to create the desired decorative effect. This step determines the final aesthetic appearance of your floor.

Finishing and protection

Two coats of clear finishing resin are applied to seal the glitter and provide long-lasting protection for your flooring. Once completely dry, your floor is ready for use, combining beauty and durability.

My stone terrace was built in 2010, 14 years ago. It is still in perfect condition. Maintenance is easy at the end of each winter. To keep it looking like new, you need to reapply resin every 3 or 4 years. It's easy to apply using a brush for the edges and a roller for large areas. The only downside is that they can't be reused afterwards. I would definitely recommend it. The result is stunning and can be customized.
